Iran martyr’s wife leaves appreciation note for ‘Villas’

An Iranian martyr’s wife has commended female director of ‘Villas’ via a note published by Iran domestic media.

An Iranian martyr’s wife has written an appreciation note on ‘Villas’, a film featuring the story of her life.

Fatemeh Saqafi whose husband achieved martyrdom during the Iraq-Iran war made a note published by Iran domestic media on Thursday, praising the film that shows part of her life during the war played by Iranian actress Parinaz Izadyar.

Making movies such as ‘Villas’ is worthwhile and Ms. Monir Qeidi should be highly commended for directing the film which is her first directorial debut,” the note read, adding that “the film’s story is a real one which happened in the country.”

Describing the film as the one having a tangible storyline, the note also read “we should thank the good director of the film.”

Fajr Film Festival debut 'Villas' about Iraq-Iran war has been shown at the latest edition of the event held in Iran.

The movie chronicles happenings to wives of Iran army commanders at the time of Iraq-Iran war. It is filmed in residential villas for army forces in southern Iran and set in Persian calendar years of 1362 and 1363.

This comes as Monir Qeydi and Arsalan Amiri have gained a nomination for ‘Villas’ at Fajr Film Festival for Best Screenplay Crystal Simorgh.

Established in 1982, Fajr Film Festival is an event that celebrates cultural exchange, displays creative achievements of highly acclaimed cineastes and pays tribute to local and international films.

Since its establishment, Fajr International Film Festival has played a vital role in the development of the Iranian Cinema.

Supervised by Iran’s Ministry of Culture, the festival hosts veteran directors and new filmmakers from Iran and across the world every year.
